Are we there yet?

IF you have kids, most certainly you have burst out laughing as I have done when, while driving the family car, the children are in the back seat...touching each other's space or fighting just for the sport of it and so you shoot them the evil eye and then you say (of course you didn't see this coming) "Don't make me pull this car over!"

And when you utter..or scream... those 7 simple words...you have officially become your parents.

As a parent, I now believe that our kids are genetically wired to do certain things.  Although each child has unique abilities, uncannily they are not unique in that they all need you desperately as soon as you get on the phone and they all ask "Are we there yet?"...starting about 1 mile away from the house and then over and over until you get to your destination.

Just keep in mind, they can't help it.. it is a predetermined program that has been placed in every child for generations...and is something we learn to suppress.

So now I want to share with you a little known fact...adults with PD are exempt from that grownup rule (!). So Mike and Ann I promise to ask "Are we there yet?" when we get to the end of my block...and about every hour on the hour until we get to Iowa!

8-9 hours on the road today...meet up with the rest of the group tomorrow morning for an all day trip to the start of the bike route. I will most certainly be tired of sitting...getting on a bike will, for a short second, seem like a transportation luxury. So stay with me...the ride starts soon.  I will do my best to get at the heart of this week and the flavor of each day...and to put an answer to the question "Are we there yet?"
